See Water After the 2019 F-16 Plane Crash at Manufacturing Facility in Riverside, Calif.

October 1, 2019

On May 16, 2019, an F-16 fighter jet was returning to the March Air Reserve Base from a NORAD training mission when its hydraulics failed, the pilot ejected and the aircraft crashed into See Water’s manufacturing facility in Riverside, Calif., at approximately 3:45 p.m.

Thirteen people, including the pilot, were admitted to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Three others were treated and released for minor injuries at the scene.

U.S. Air Force officials evacuated and secured the area, which included closing the adjacent 4-mile stretch of the I-215 freeway in both directions, to remove live ammunition and clean up the aircraft as well as conduct an investigation.

See Water’s manufacturing facility was shut down and it took a severe hit to its manufacturing capabilities.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the core team and its sense of urgency, See Water secured a temporary building nearby within four days of the crash. Within seven days, most of the safe inventory was moved to the temporary location. Within 10 days, See Water began fulfilling orders again. See Water overcame the challenges presented in crisis, fulfilling a record number of orders in June 2019.

In the months that followed, the See Water team worked together to rebuild and achieve optimal manufacturing capabilities and daily business operations at the temporary location. See Water moved back to its permanent facility in September 2019.

Overcoming the hurdles presented by this unexpected event, See Water continued on the path of growth and innovation. In addition to introducing enhancements to several of its premium lines of control panels, such as the WS Series®, Hydra® and Parabola®, See Water is launching the Pump Portal® Retrofit Kit and the Float Pro™ Series.

The Pump Portal® Retrofit Kit expands on the capabilities of See Water’s Pump Portal® IoT pump monitoring system by supporting wireless remote panel control and monitoring for any existing See Water model control panel, including the: Hydra®, WS Series®, Parabola®, Oil Smart® and Knight Series®.

See Water has several building enhancements still in progress at the manufacturing facility, including brand new office space for its engineering department and a state-of-the-art training room for upcoming training opportunities and product demonstrations.

The See Water team looks forward to celebrating its 25th year of providing a global network of OEMs, manufacturing representatives and customers the highest quality engineered products on the market.

Please check back soon or contact See Water to learn more about current product enhancements, new product launches and upcoming on-site training opportunities.
